In plain words
- Today's Punjab is free to read and use for learning.
- We work hard to be accurate, and we label how sure we are. If you spot a mistake, please tell us.
- Our writing belongs to Today's Punjab. Photos belong to the people who took them and are shared under their licences.
- Be respectful. No hate, no bullying, no spam, and no attempts to break the site.
- If you send us a suggestion, you are letting us edit and publish it with credit to you.
1. Using this website
These Terms of Use apply to everyone who visits Today's Punjab. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. The site is free, and no account is needed.
Today's Punjab is a non-political, educational website about Sikh and Punjabi history, faith, people and community. It is not affiliated with any government, political party, gurdwara committee or religious authority.
2. Accuracy and religious content
We research every entry carefully and list our sources. Each entry is labelled to show how certain it is: Established fact, Community tradition, or Interpretation or estimate. Even so, history is sometimes disputed and sources can be wrong, so the site is provided for general learning only.
Nothing on this site is legal, medical, financial or official religious advice. For questions of Sikh practice, please speak with your local gurdwara or a trusted granthi. If you find a mistake, tell us and we will review it.
3. Who owns what
- Our writing and design belong to Today's Punjab. You are welcome to share links, and to quote short passages for school work, teaching or news with credit to Today's Punjab. Please ask before copying larger parts.
- Photographs mostly come from Wikimedia Commons and belong to their creators. Each is used under its own licence, such as public domain or Creative Commons, and credited on the entry where it appears. Those licences, not ours, decide how you may reuse them.
- Music and videos are played from YouTube and belong to their owners.
- Names and logos of other organisations belong to them. Mentioning a person or organisation does not mean they endorse us.
4. Your suggestions
When you send us a suggestion, you confirm that it is true to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to share it. You give Today's Punjab permission to edit it for accuracy, length and clarity, and to publish it on the site and in the newsletter, with credit to you if you give a name. We may choose not to publish a suggestion, and nothing appears on the site until an editor has reviewed it.
Please do not send private information about other people, such as their address or phone number, or anything about a living private individual without their permission.
5. House rules
When using this site or sending us anything, please do not:
- post anything hateful, threatening, bullying or disrespectful toward any faith, community or person
- use the site for political campaigning or advertising
- send spam, false information on purpose, or material you do not have the right to share
- try to hack, overload, copy in bulk or otherwise damage the website
6. Links to other websites
We link to other websites, such as sources, museums and charities, to help you learn more. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for what they say or do.
7. Young visitors
Much of the site is made for young people to enjoy. We recommend that parents and teachers explore it alongside younger children, especially the history pages, which describe real events that include war and loss. Children under 13 should ask a parent or guardian before signing up for anything. See our Privacy Policy.
8. Legal
The site is provided as it is, without any promise that it will always be available, free of errors, or suitable for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, Today's Punjab is not responsible for any loss that comes from using the site or relying on its content. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that the law does not allow us to limit.
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.
